This foundation program serves as an introduction to the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes incorporating infection control, structure and function, water filtration and workplace health and safety. These workshops are aimed at nurses, CSSD technicians and assistants involved with the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes. The program was revised in 2024, in accordance with current standards including AS 5369;2023, updated guidelines and manufacturers’ instructions.


Workshop highlights

On completion of the workshop participants will be able to reflect and query their practice in their workplace related to:

  • The structure and function of the endoscope
  • Accessory equipment and ultrasonic cleaners
  • Occupational Health and Safety Issues with reprocessing chemicals
  • Infection control issues in endoscopy
  • Flexible endoscope cleaning
  • Documentation
  • Procedure for microbiological testing of flexible endoscopes
  • Water filtration

Recommended Prior Learning

It is recommended that prior to undertaking the Fundamentals workshop the participant has completed the GENCA online learning module and worked through the theoretical component of the package.  Following completion of this course, the participant may wish to undertake the Practical Skills Assessment.  Proof of completion of the online learning module is required to book an assessment.

Registrations close

5:00pm Thursday 4 September 2025 or until sold out.  No registrations will be accepted on the day of the workshop. We encourage participants to register online to avoid disappointment as places will be limited!

Certificates

Certificates issued after the workshop via email, provided that payment has been received and that the participant has signed the attendance record on the day.

Catering is provided at this workshop, HOWEVER, any Special Dietary Requirements can only be accommodated by the venue if participants include this information at the time of ONLINE registration, at minimum of 3 working days prior to the workshop date.
