Education Grants

GENCA Education Grants provide financial assistance to members to:

  • Attend the annual Australian Gastroenterology Week (AGW) Conference
  • Attend the GENCA National Conference or an interstate GENCA study day
  • Attend a relevant overseas conference
  • Assist in the financing of relevant educational courses
  • Assist in the financing of text books for relevant educational courses
  • Fund the cost to sit the Credentialling examination
  • Assist in financing to achieve the Cert IV in Training/Education.

Criteria

The applicant must:

  • Complete an application form available here or from the GENCA office at education@genca.org or 1300 788 155
  • Have been a member of GENCA for a minimum of one year.

Terms and conditions:

  • If the grant is to attend a conference, then the recipient must agree to nominate a topic on the program that they are particularly interested in and agree to write a 500 word article around the topic, incorporating the information learnt from the conference attended.  If the grant is to attend and present at a conference then a transcript of the presentation, or an article, is to be submitted to the Editorial Committee.  Assistance with writing will be provided by the Editorial committee and the article is expected to be submitted within three (3) months of conference attendance. NB. Failure to meet this obligation will make the recipient ineligible for further education grants.
  • Grants must be applied for and approved in advance of undertaking the funded event.  
  • The grant is not transferrable and must be used for the specified purpose.

Applications can be submitted throughout the year, and are offered in two rounds - January and July each year.  Closing date for applications is 31 January and 31 July each year.

New Member Education Grant

GENCA New Member Education Grants provide financial assistance to new GENCA members to:

  • Assist in the financing of relevant educational courses
  • Assist in the financing of text books for relevant educational courses
  • Fund the cost to sit the Credentialling examination
  • Attend state conference study day(s).

Criteria

The applicant must:

  • Complete an application form available from the GENCA office at education@genca.org or 1300 788 155
  • Be a new GENCA member who has joined not more than 6 months prior to the application, and have attended a minimum of two (2) GENCA meetings
  • State, in no more than 250 words the reason they are applying for the grant and how it will benefit them and their workplace.

Terms and conditions:

  • The grant is not transferrable and must be used for the specified purpose
  • Application is not eligible for overseas conference funding.
