GENCA, the Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australia facilitates the provision of Education, Standards and Credentialling, and encourages members to share their knowledge and expertise with their colleagues.
The College is dedicated to the safe and effective practice of gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing through its mission To Promote Excellence in Gastroenterology Nursing Practice.
GENCA carries out its mission by:
“Advancing the science and practice of gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing through education, research, advocacy and collaboration.
Promoting the professional development of its members in an atmosphere of mutual support and respect.
Since 1977, the Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australia has been the only voice for gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing practice and the only national organisation to collectively meet the needs of this nursing speciality.
GENCA provides support and is actively involved in the following areas:
- National Standards and Guidelines.
- Educational Courses and a Credentialling program.
- College representation at state, national and international forums.

- Free copies of the professional journal published quarterly. This publication aims to expand on nurses existing practice knowledge, provide research study outcomes and offers current resource and product reviews as well as up-to-date medical breakthroughs.
